sleepswthdemons: (Phoebe Hysterical)
[personal profile] sleepswthdemons
Phoebe had a stack of inventory lists that she needed to get into her computer system so that she could order new stock for The Crystal Fox.

Of course, the twins had picked this time to decide that they needed to know where their mommy was at all times.

Trying to compromise with her responsibilities as mom and her duties as a store owner who needed to have stock sell to pay employees, Phoebe had moved everything into the library. The baby gates were up between the living room and the kitchen.

"Thea, baby, please don't try climbing that, you'll fall. Peri, honey, no, the couch arm is not for chewing on..."

She managed to get two entries done when she realized how silent it had gotten. She looked up from the screen, and jumped up from her chair. The twins were nowhere to be seen.

"Thea? Peri?" Phoebe searched all of the places a four month old could hide in the library. They were nowhere to be found... and the baby gates were still up and didn't look like they had been touched. "Thea! Peri!"

Panic was starting to move through her as she kicked her way through the baby gate leading to the living room. However, they weren't there and she didn't find them attempting to climb the stairs, either.

"COLE!" Phoebe finally yelled, trying to keep the yell from being a scream of panic. "ANDERS!"

Cole walked in from the backyard, Peri (he was pretty sure it was Peri) in his arms. "Look what I found," he said, bouncing the giggling baby against his shoulder.

Phoebe had been about to start screaming his name as she worked herself into a panic when he walked in with Peri.

"Where did you -- how-- I can't find Thea!"

"Phoebe?" Sam had been out in the front yard when he felt her panic, and hurried through the living room -- not at a full run, not wanting to accidentally trip on a runaway baby. (He'd come close to that on a couple of occasions, but shh.) "What's going on?"

"All right," Cole said, trying not to panic, which was hard when he was feeling Phoebe's panic. "She's gotta be around here somewhere. Peri just popped into my arms. I think she wanted attention and shimmered or teleported somehow."

"They were with me in the library," Phoebe stammered out, her panic not easing up. "I looked away to enter two items in the inventory logs and they were gone."

Phoebe was almost in tears as she was telling Cole and Anders what happened.

That would be when there was a giggle and Thea appeared on the floor by their feet.

". . . and they're back," Sam said intelligently, crouching down to scoop Thea up. "Where've you been, kiddo? You know you're not supposed to be out on the Pyramid court without padding, and they don't make it in your size yet."

"Bad girls," Cole scolded, but his voice was anything but scolding-like. "No scaring your mommy or your daddies."

The twins giggled and waved their arms in the air in response to the not-scolding from Cole.

Phoebe, on the other hand, dropped down onto the couch. "So... they can teleport..."

"Well, that'll make life interesting for the next eighteen years or so," Sam remarked dryly, settling into an armchair with a still thoroughly unrepentant Thea in his lap.

"Don't look at me," Cole said. "I couldn't shimmer until I was five. Maybe it's a witchy thing. Or a Sam thing."

"We're going to need to fit them with some sort of GPS system."

"How is it a me thing?" Sam demanded. "Cylons can't do anything like that!"

As far as he knew. The only person in his world who could spontaneously disappear was Kara, and he didn't know that yet anyway.

"And we're not fitting the girls with a GPS system," he added. "They're not cars, for the love of gods."

Cole rolled his eyes. "Would you rather I claim it was obviously shimmering?" he said. And here he'd been trying to be magnanimous and not do a happy dance of "hooray, they're mine!" because it didn't matter anyway, the girls were a part of all three of them.

"We need to magically lojack them somehow," he went on. "Or there will be many many moments of panic in the future."

"We have them on each other," Phoebe pointed out stubbornly. "Why would it be wrong for me and Piper and Paige to come up with a locater for the twins, too?"

Phoebe was wearing the look that both men should recognize as determination and Halliwell stubbornness.

"Right," Sam said. "That kind of GPS. That'd be fine."

Someone had been spending a little too much time shopping online for one for his bike lately. The dork.

He tickled Thea's tummy. "You girls gonna be okay with that? 'cause it's not nice to give us and your mom heart attacks, y'know."

"Were you thinking ankle bracelets or something?" Cole snorted. He glanced at Phoebe. "What about binding their powers?" he said. He was reluctant to suggest that because it was just unnatural, but he didn't want the girls to accidentally hurt themselves or anyone else.

Phoebe shook her decisively. "No. I won't take the risk of something happening to my sisters and I before we could teach Panthea and Persephone about their powers." She looked at Cole. "Remember how frightened I was when my powers suddenly appeared and I thought I was losing my mind?"

"I don't," Sam noted with a wry smile. "And I have to agree with Phoebe. They deserve to grow up knowing who and what they are exactly."

"We're all going to be gray before they're three years old," Cole sighed. "Think we can ward the house to prevent them from teleporting outside unsupervised?"

Phoebe nodded. "I'm positive we can do that." If only for the sanity of their parents. "There'll probably be something in the Book."

Or she'd create it.

"That might be a good idea," Sam conceded, eyeing Cole. "Wow, somebody's snarky today."

Phoebe leaned her head against Cole's shoulder and smiled as Peri patted her face.
