When it was late, Phoebe slipped from her room and then from the house. She had had one of her premonitions. She had seen a demon creeping around an area she recognized as being in the park. It was a spot she often had wandered in when she was drinking and trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the night.
A demon had probably been what had been messing with things in her room.
A demon had attacked and almost killed Anders.
Thus, she was going hunting.
Phoebe lit up a cigarette as she walked slowly to the park. She knew that Marie, Lana and Piper would freak if they knew she was out here alone. They would be upset because she hadn't healed enough to be doing this... but they would also be upset that she had left the house alone at night.
If she was right, tonight would end everything that had been happening to her over the last week.
She had barely arrived at the spot from her premonition when she saw the demon. There was nothing around him, so she figured she was alone in the park with him.
"Hey Ugly," she called, tossing down her cigarette. "You don't belong here."
The demon turned and looked her up and down. "And who's going to make me leave? You?"
"That's right."
"You're not even whole," the demon taunted.
"More than whole enough to deal with you."
The demon laughed at her and conjured a fireball, throwing it at her chest. Phoebe ducked and then launched herself at the demon.
The hit probably would have landed dead center of the demon if she hadn't already been hurt and favoring her leg. He swung, knocking her to the ground. As she went down on her wounded leg, Phoebe let out a sharp cry of pain. Trying to ignore the pain, she kicked out at the demon's knee.
The demon went down, and Phoebe barely rolled out of his way. She pulled her athame and stabbed at his chest. The knife pierced his shoulder and Phoebe's eyes widened as he yanked the athame out of his shoulder and stabbed downward. She rolled again and felt the blade tear into her jacket. Before she could get out of the way, the demon grabbed the back of her jacket and yanked her up, then tossed her to the ground.
Phoebe shook her head, trying to clear it as she tried to get to her feet. This... was not the best fight she had ever been in. She had to get out of here; she had to get away.
