Phoebe was tired of being cooped up and feeling a little restless. She couldn't seem to get comfortable and her emotions and hormones were slightly frayed.

Ok, more than slightly.

After some wheedling, begging and threatening, the boys had helped Phoebe get settled on the front porch swing.

She was, of course, wearing a jacket and there was a blanket nearby in case she got chilled. There was also a pitcher of Lavender Jasmine tea on the table next to her as well as her laptop and a selection of trashy novels.

"Talk to me, please, love?"

He could never say no to her, but Sam did lean against her gently and stretch his arm out behind her shoulders before he began to speak.

"I know you don't want me to worry, and I know it doesn't matter to you, but this whole thing about who I am . . . I try not to think about it, but I keep dreaming about it."

She leaned against him.

"I know who you are... but what are you dreaming about?"

"Things that make me glad I'm here with you, and not back home," Sam admitted, and as he always did he found relief in her presence. "What my life might've been like if I'd stayed. Don't get me wrong, I would never take back a second of my life here, and I'll never regret deciding to stay. I just . . . worry if there was some way I could have been useful there."

"We needed you here," she said softly, snuggling against him. She knew that it made him feel better when she was close. He and Cole were remarkably alike in that. "Had you gone back home, you might have been killed and you would never have done the things you have here."

Sam turned slightly, and wrapped both arms around her. "I'd take being here with you and Cole and --" He smiled affectionately as he brushed his fingertips over her stomach again. "-- the girls, and Isabel and everyone, over being a hero back there any day, you know."

Even with him being gone all that time, the Colonies had still been wiped out by the Cylons -- the other Cylons. So maybe, he tried to tell himself, his presence there wouldn't have made much of a difference one way or another anyhow.

"And you're ours, Anders," she said softly. "You were and always will be needed here."

Sam had to lean down and kiss her gently at that. "Don't ever think for a second that I wish I was there instead of here," he said, his voice rough. "I wonder, sometimes, how it might've been, yeah. But I don't wish things were different."

She kissed him back, holding him as close as she could. "Wondering is not a bad thing, my dear one. But letting it torture you is."

Sam smiled as he nuzzled her. "I know better than to risk your wrath that way. If I could get the dreams to stop, I would."

"And you guys won't let me do any spellcasting..."

Sam looked a bit sheepish as he pulled back just enough to smile at her. "Are we doing the overprotective thing again?"

She smiled. "A little, but I do understand why."

"You know you can smack me if I do that, right?" Sam asked, giving her the puppy face.

"And you know I won't."

"Mmm. You do like to spoil us," Sam murmured, and kissed her nose.

She grinned. "You're my guys and I love you more than anything."

"And we love you just as much," Sam answered, more than confident in being able to speak for himself and Cole on the subject. He curled up closer, happy to snuggle with her for a while. "I'll cheer up, don't worry."

"You have to. I don't like either one of you being unhappy."

"Any more than we don't like you being unhappy?" Sam asked, one hand sliding to the back of her neck to massage lightly.

"Oooooh," she murmured, her head tilting forward as he did that.

Sam smiled and applied a little more pressure to the kneading, kissing Phoebe's temple. "Feels like you needed that."

"I do, so much."

"And I love taking care of you," he noted as he found a particularly tense knot and went to work on it. "Anything else I can do for you, while you've got a ready, willing, and able me right here?"
