44 Blueberry Hill -- Early Friday Morning (Pre-Dawn)

She wasn't sure what had woken up, but once she was awake, she was aware that something was very wrong.

She was looking at Seraphim and Valkyrie when she felt strong emotions coming at her through the spell bond.

She pulled herself up and turned on the bedside lamp. Cole was asleep next to her but... where was Anders? Why wasn't he in bed with them?

She looked at the cats.

"Where is he?" She whispered.

-Not here- Seraphim said after a moment.

-He left- Valkyrie added.

"Left?" Phoebe was starting to panic when she felt those emotions coming at her again. She shook Cole. "Cole. Anders is gone." She was trying to bite back the worry, but knew she wouldn't be able to hide it from him. "Cole, please wake up."

Cole wasn't sleeping very well since he was picking up on Sam's distress, too. "I'm awake," he murmured, sitting up. "I'll go find him, okay? You stay here."

She shook her head. "I'm going with you, Cole. Something is wrong."

"Sweetheart, you're pregnant now, you can't just rush into unknown danger," Cole said, starting to get out of bed.

"What's better, love," she asked, trying not to flail. "Me staying here when we're feeling all of this and freaking out because both of you are gone and I'm here alone... or going with you where you can keep me safe and I'm not a basketcase?"

Something was indeed wrong, judging from the muffled thump of something -- or someone -- hitting the wall and sliding to the floor downstairs just after the front door slammed shut.

The wave of disbelief and fear that likely resonated through the bond didn't do much to contradict that possibility, either.

Cole grabbed a robe and handed Phoebe hers. Once she was out of bed and covered, he took her hand and shimmered them downstairs to the front hallway. "Sam?" he said. "What's wrong? What's going on?"

Phoebe looked around and then went to kneel next to Anders. "Were you attacked?"

Sam's knees were drawn up to his chest, his arms folded on his knees, and his face buried in his arms. He shook his head slowly before he looked up.

"Not attacked. Not really."

"What the hell happened?" Cole demanded, moving beside Sam as well. "And don't say nothing because you know we can feel it."

Phoebe nodded, looking very determined though her eyes were full of worry.

"Was at the shop," Sam mumbled. "Don't know -- the music -- drew me there. Had to follow it."

Cole exchanged a glance with Phoebe. "Can you do a spell to get that damn thing out of his head?" he asked quietly.

"Yeah, I've been researching and think I have a good way to do it."

Phoebe curled up close to Anders and reached over him to get ahold of Cole's hand.

"We love you," she said softly. "You're right where you belong, Anders."

Cole pressed against Sam and moved his arm over him to take Phoebe's hand. "Where you belong," he murmured in agreement.

"And where I want to be," Sam added. "Wouldn't want to be anywhere but with you."

"This is your home, sweetie. We love you and you're important to us."

"What she said," Cole said. "And if you try to argue it I'll kick your ass."

Sam turned his head to look Cole in the eyes as best he could. "I'd be the stupidest guy in the universe to argue with being loved." Especially in light of what that vision had shown him. "Especially by you."

Phoebe nodded. "Very true and you're not stupid."

She didn't like that someone in that other life had hurt him like that -- not loving him and cheating on him. People from that life had better never come to Milieux.

"Go to sleep," Cole said. "You'll feel better with some rest."

Sam yawned, and all of a sudden it hit him all over again how completely drained he was.

"Okay. Long's you don't let go," he mumbled. "Need to feel you guys right now. Sorry I'm a little clingy . . ."

Phoebe was exhausted, so she was glad when Cole told Anders to sleep.

"Clingy is fine and we're not going anywhere until I have to work on Saturday."

"The cats will make sure of it," Cole mumbled sleepily.

"'m all good with that." Sam snuggled back against Cole and pulled Phoebe closer. "Stay right here, 's good, and now that th'music's gone maybe I can . . ."

And he was asleep, breathing evenly, his features slowly relaxing.
